”What I have always been attracted to in Sam’s work. Besides his exceptional use of color, it is that the work for me, touches me on a spiritual level. There is a deep feeling and an amazing timeless quality about it. I think of cave paintings, and early art. There are references to other cultures, Africa, Asia, and with some of the figures, they have a Classical Greek influence. Those are some of the things, for me, that have always gone deeper, beyond the color.”
